What CPT 92508 covers

CPT 92508 covers treatment of speech, language, voice, and communication disorders delivered in a group of two or more individuals.

Like 92507 it is untimed — one unit per group session per participant.

Using 92508 on superbills

  • Social-communication groups, articulation carryover groups, and AAC peer groups typically bill 92508.
  • Each child in the group gets their own superbill line with 92508 and their own fee.
  • Group rates are usually lower than individual rates — reflect your actual fee schedule.

Documentation that supports it

  • Individualized note per child (not one shared note) tied to that child's goals
  • Group size and the skilled role you played

FAQ

How many kids make a session 'group' for 92508?

Two or more. If a parent joins a one-on-one session, that is still individual treatment (92507).

Do payers reimburse 92508 out of network?

Many do, at group rates. Reimbursement depends on the family's OON benefits — a complete superbill gives the claim its best chance.
